In Memory of US Police Dog Morgan
I don’t mind owning up to a tear in my eye while I wrote this poem, inspired by “Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone” by W. H. Auden. It is dedicated to US Police Dog Morgan who died from injuuries sustained at 9/11 on 25th July 2011.
Usual rules apply about using my poetry, any commercial use will require an honour donation to your nearest dog shelter/dog rehoming charity or similar in memory of Morgan. Any use by a dog shelter/dog rehoming is welcome. If you use this poem please give credit and link to this page as the source.
Fallen Friend
Flags at half mast,
squeaky toys put away,
wagging tails set to slow.
A silent twenty one,
dog bark to salute,
a hero on her final run.
Where angels roam,
and doggy playtime,
lasts forever.
A fallen friend,
paid the price,
so we all run free.
By Elliott Rodgers
Dedicated to K9 Capt. (retired) Morgan. Who paid the ultimate price.
