Broken Leg: A Year On.

A year ago today, I came back from the hospital complete with a back slab plaster on my left leg and a load of painkillers after broken my leg/ankle on the ice. Originally it was meant to be a couple of months before I got back to some sort of normality… this was changed to three to four months (a week later, after my surgery).

A year on and I’m still in pain, which has in the last few days got worse. I don’t know why it’s got worse but I’m limping around.

Fracture Clinic Tomorrow

It’s that time again tomorrow… fracture clinic. Are they going to decide on operating on my broken leg so I can finally be free of pain and get back to normal?

I hope so.

Update: Saw the Ortho consultant – I have to go back in 3 months and when I do, I’ll be booked in for surgery in January. Could have been worse I suppose – could be having surgery early-mid December and spend Christmas off my feet like last year.

Broken leg update – more pyshiotherapy

I’m back to getting pyshiotherapy (with a differemt pyshiotherapist than before) at Amersham hospital. Some of my muscles and tendons are causing problems, so I’m down for a few more weeks of pyshiotherapy this time with Ultrasound treatment to encourage healing.

The pyshiotherapy department at Amersham Hospital have been superb, I’ve had brilliant treatment for nearly all of my treatment since I broke my leg (an exception was one nurse during post op).

The ultrasound on the tendons on the top of my foot at the join with my leg was strange, kind of tingling, not painful at all. Hopefully.

Had my appointment today at fracture clinic. I’ve got to have more treatment from the physiotherapists – this time ultrasound physiotherapy.

Back to clinic in six weeks and more surgery.

Broken Leg Update

My fracture clinic appointment has been bought forward a month at the request of my GP (It was mid July), so I am back to the hospital week Tuesday.

It’s been almost six months and I am still living in pain every day, needing pain killers and using a cane. None of these are any good. It’s holding me back a lot, I want to get back to normal, to get various plans under way, have a good nights sleep and all that. Something is obviously not right but I hope they don’t want me to have more surgery – wheelchairs, crutches and all that kind of spoiled Christmas and New Year (helped by a monster Migraine) don’t really want summer ruined to.
