Random things about me

  • I love photography, especially landscapes.

  • I do however drink lots of milkshakes, a situation likely to get worse now I have a smoothie maker.
  • I write poetry, some of which has been published and some Poetry is here on my website.
  • I nearly went to college to train to be a chef, I often wonder how different my life may have been if I had.
  • I suffer from really bad depression, which has landed me in hospital on several occasions. It can have no apparent reason and regularly causes chaos in my life.

  • I realise that the above may make me sound like a girl.

  • I never went to university, college was a disaster due to a bout of depression which resulted in a stay in hospital.
  • I used to keep hamsters as pets, it wasn’t successful, two escaped and were never seen again.
  • I’m a big fan of LeAnn Rimes and met her in the Very VIP room at The Appollo, Hammersmith, Sept 2004), got a signed UK Tour Poster and my photo taken with her.

50 questions answered

Inspired by a quiz completed by a lovely primary school teacher friend of mine (Nikki P) on Facebook. I completed 50 questions all about me, a couple have been changed as they were Facebook specific and wouldn’t make a lot of sense otherwise. I update this page every so often (last updated 23rd March 2012).

1. If your doctor told you TODAY that you were pregnant, what would you say?
Me and you are going to be soooooo rich

2. Do you trust all of your friends?
Not all of them. The thing with trust once it’s gone, it’s so very hard to get it back….

3. Would you move to another state or country to be with the one you love?
Yes – I’d walk over broken glass to get there as well.

4. Do you believe that everything happens for a reason?
From a logical standpoint yes. From the philosophical/spiritual point of view no.

5. Can you make a dollar in change right now?
Could manage a pound if I can look down the back of the sofa.

6. Which one of your friends do you think would make the best doctor?
I’m working on the assumption this is not meant to include friends who ARE doctors already… I fink Ruthy (who’s a paramedic)

7. Are you afraid of falling in love?
Oh hell yes.

8. What kind of car were you driving 2 years ago?
I wasn’t.

9. Is there someone who pops into your mind at random times?
Yes a couple of people… not always at the best of times. One especially recently.

10. What’s your most favourite scar?
I suppose the one from having an iron bar smacked into my forehead… Long story.

11. When was the last time you flew in a plane?
May 2007.

12. What did the last text message you sent say?
Thanks xx (Although there can never be enough thanks for this persons help)

13. What physical features do you find most attractive in the preferred sex?
Eyes, smile, bum and legs… Not nessercarily in that order! ;-)

14. Fill in the blank: I love my…..
Photo album of my daughter and of course my lovely dog Sheppie (who is currently asleep and snoring), my phone, my camera…

15. What’s the goal you’d like to accomplish in the near future?
Start to fix a relationship with someone after missing them for so many years… EVERYTHING else is insignificant compared to this.

16. If you were to wake up from being in a coma for an extended time who would you call?
My special people, in my inner circle. Prayer chain at church.

17. How many kids do you want to have?
A couple more, although getting to the stage of trusting someone enough to have the kids with them will be a long time coming.

18. Would you make a good parent?
I am. Even if I haven’t had the chance to prove it every day.

19. Do you have any special talents?
I can do some deaf sign language, I’m trying to learn to juggle (again), I can develop websites using a variety of languages and I’m a pretty good photographer.

20. What’s your middle name?
John.

21. Honestly, what’s on your mind right now?
How tired I am and how much I need sleep. How much I’m missing someone very special to me who recently came back into my life.

22. If you could go back in time and change something, what would it be?
I’ve got a few big regrets that I’d change.. I’d change at least one of my choices of lottery numbers!

Someone that I took a chance on didn’t deserve it…. they definitely didn’t deserve the second chance I gave them.

I’d stop myself from falling on the ice December 2010.

My Favourite…

Colour(s): Purple, Dark Blue and Silver.
Books/Author(s): There’s masses of authors I like, as I really enjoy curling up with a good book. Raymond E. Feist, Andy McNab, Tom Reynolds (nice guy), Fiona Robyn, Stuart Gray, Caroline Rance (I was lucky enough to meet her and get a signed copy of Kill Grief. She’s lovely), Bernard Cornwell, Caroline Smailes (met her to, she’s lovely as well!), Stephen Lawhead (met him friendly guy) and Adrian Plass (met him lovely man, absolutely mad and huge).
Movie(s): I love movies, in no paticular order – Coyote Ugly, Madagascar (1+2), Cocktail, Electric Dreams, Cry Freedom, Titanic, Lost & Delirious, Bringing Out The Dead, Dog Soldiers, The Mist, Hot Fuzz, Over The Hedge (can NEVER EVER be as good as the first time I saw it!), Lethal Weapon (All), Harry Potter (All – favoruite;PoA), Cruel Intentions series (especially 2), Transporter (All), Enigma, Evolution, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), Eight Legged Freaks…
TV: In no paticular order… Mock The Week, QI, Have I Got News For You, Scrubs, Rookie Blue, NCIS, The Gadget Show, Inbetweeners, Russell Howard’s Good News, Doctor Who, Outnumbered, Grey’s Anatomy, Fast and Loose (especially Laura Solon and David Armand)…. Partial to documentaries and stuff can learn from rather than so called “Reality TV”.
Animal(s): Absolute favourite has always been otters. I also like Tigers, Giraffes and of course Border Collies and Springer Spaniels.
Elliott Rodgers meets LeAnn RimesMusic: HUGE fan of LeAnn Rimes (I went to see her at London Appollo and got to meet her afterwards in VVIP lounge, got a signed tour poster, photo taken with her. She’s really very lovely and very short!), Shania Twain, Kylie Sackley (especially love – I Wanna Do Bad Things To You [special song], Love Don’t Come Lately, I Never Meant To Love You, After All The Fall Was Mine and Don’t That Make You Miss Me) Keith Urban (Special songs – You’ll Think Of Me, Making Memories of Us, Somebody Like You) Kelly Clarkson (Love her albums: My December and All I Ever Wanted). I like some stuff by Natalie Imbruglia, love the song Torn (which David Armand does a fantastic dance to). Of course I couldn’t possibly not include Adam Kay & Suman Biswas; Amatuer Transplants
Place(s): I love the hills around my home. London Zoo and London Eye will both always have such very very special but bittersweet memories forever.
Food(s): My home made cookies, my home made omelettes (both are really good so friends tell me it would be rude not to agree with Jason H’s comments :-D ). I also like bacon and runny fried egg sandwiches.. well cooked breakfasts in general. I’m a self confessed chocolate addict and I have a really bad biscuit habit.
Drink(s): I rarely drink alcohol, so it’s a cup of tea (just a little milk and one sugar now), fruit juice or Milkshake (Frijj especially). Bought a smoothie maker to try and eat/drink a bit more sensibly.
Possession/Thing(s): First of course would be Sheppie, photo album of my daughter, mobile phone and in a fire I’d save those first. Hopefully I’d have time to save my backup drive/USB keys or even better the whole tower unit of my PC.
Flower: Self Raising :-)
Magician - By Raymond E Feist (Original UK cover)Quote(s): I love quotes, they’ve always fascinated me (A lot of my favourite quotes are on the Thought Of The Day RSS Feed). Probably my absolute favourite is by Mary Anne Radmacher “Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow.” Anyone who knows me reasonably well will know why that’s a favourite.
My two other favourite quotes are from literature, the first is from one of my all time favourite books Magician by Raymond E Feist. Softly she said, ‘Father Tully says that some loves come unbidden like winds from the sea, and others grow from the seeds of friendship. ‘
‘I will hope for such a harvest, Carline. But should it not come, still I will remain your good friend. ‘

The other is from Midsummers Night Dream Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, and therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.

Thought Of The Day

You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on. ~ Dean Martin
