Seagull In FlightI’am a semi professional photographer. My photos have been used in local papers on various occasions where I have come across newsworthy events. I’ve acted as an official photographer at various local events including carnivals and one of my images of a bee feeding at a pink flower is being used by The Daily Telegraph on their website.

I do a lot of my own photographs when I’m designing websites, often to get a unique photo or image without paying sometimes huge prices for stock photos, one example I’m often heard quoting is an image of some chocolate which had a price tag of £370! I spent less than a fiver at Tesco for the chocolate. I got an image I liked as much as the £370 one AND got to eat the chocolate!! :)

Photography is one of my creative outlets and I do get a really big buzz taking a great photograph. Friends have commented on how happy I often look when I’m behind the camera – I hate being the other side of the lens, photos of myself make me cringe. If there’s a paticular genre of photography I like to work in, I’d say it’s photographing landscapes like sunsets and wildlife. Something about capturing that moment in time appeals to me and I’ve always had an interest in science and the natural world. I always find it fascinating and a prvilege to get a glimpse into an often unseen world and bring back a photographic memory.

I’m currently experimenting with a digital microscope which is proving a whole other world of fascinating photography. I’ve already shared an image of a ladybird and a selection of photos taken with the microscope

These area variety of galleries on my site at the moment. If you’re looking for the Sheppie Gallery it’s now on the Sheppie page.

  1. Random question: I am starting my own blog to share my photography experiences. Do you find it hard or easy to post consistently?

  2. Elliott says:

It depends on my mood and how busy I am, this is the third evolution of my blog so I’m (hopefully) getting better. I suffer from severe depression which can play havoc with my life and when you’re struggling to do the basics of daily life, blogging isn’t going to get a look in.

I would strongly suggest you write yourself a dozen or so posts in advance for those times when you’re struggling and write them so they aren’t date specific (unless of course the content is already date specific like April Fools Day).

    Good luck. Keep in touch.

    Elliott
