Working out life one day at a time.

Random things about me

  • I love photography, especially landscapes.

  • My idea of a good night is chilling with my friends. I’ve never been into the whole clubbing thing, I prefer pubs where you can mellow, enjoy the atmosphere and chat with friends.
  • I very rarely drink alcohol.
  • I do however drink far to many milkshakes, a situation likely to get worse now I have a smoothie maker.
  • I write poetry, some of which has been published and some Poetry is on my website.
  • I nearly went to college to train to be a chef, I often wonder how different my life may have been if I had.
  • I suffer from really bad depression, which has landed me in hospital on several occasions. It can have no apparent reason and regularly causes chaos in my life.
  • I’m incredibly untidy, I have a massive tidying up session and then slowly (or sometimes quickly) it descends into untidiness again.
  • I can invert fillet a salmon (take the bones out from the inside, leaving salmon whole).
  • I don’t like my hair, I’ve never liked it since I can’t do anything with it.
  • I realise that the above may make me sound like a girl.
  • I can also de-bone a leg of lamb.
  • In my teens I seriously entertained the idea of joing the army, I have friends who’ve served in the army and some who still are in the army. I wonder how different my life may have been.
  • I have had some military training whilst a volunteer in a search and rescue unit.
  • I’ve also done stuff with the RAF.
  • Besides dogs (especially Border Collies), I love Tigers and Otters.
  • I worked on the first aid team at London Zoo, while there I was lucky enough to feed the otters, Meerkats and feed bread to a Giraffe (I have many very special memories of London Zoo).
  • I never went to university, college was a disaster due to a bout of depression which resulted in a stay in hospital.
  • I used to keep hamsters as pets, it wasn’t successful, two escaped and were never seen again.
  • I’m a big fan of LeAnn Rimes and met her in the Very VIP room at The Appollo, Hammersmith, Sept 2004), got a signed UK Tour Poster and my photo taken with her.
  • My friends are very important, without some of them I literally wouldn’t be alive today.
  • I speak a bit of French, German and Arabic.
  • I can easily navigate my way around the London Underground.
  • I am strangely proud of the above.
  • I know British Sign Language.
  • I’m tone deaf but I can sing – terribly.
  • In the same trip across London Underground I have helped people in French, German and in Sign Language.
  • Between the ages nine and eleven wanted to be a marine biologist, the oceans still fascinate me.
  • I love reading – My favourite author is Raymond E Feist.
  • I love taking long, very hot baths. The record for time in the bath stands at 4 and a half hours! I often use it as a place to think.
  • I’ve been given a bravery award; for my actions after a gas explosion outside a petrol station.
  • I want to go travelling at some point in the future, I’d really like to explore more of Morocco, I want to visit Egypt since the history is fascinating, Australia also looks good especially for the wildlife photography.
  • I was supposed to be on one of the trains that was bombed during 7/7, the bomber was in my “usual carriage” at the same end I sat at. I slept in due to finishing work late the night before doing medical cover at an Oasis Concert.
  • I was once held up in armed robbery at a previous job managing a petrol forecourt.

  • I’m a Virgo but don’t believe in Horoscopes.
  • I can’t stand football or golf.
